Purpose
The University of Texas at Austin seeks a Director of Career Success Reporting and Insights to join the central Career Success team. This position will lead the enhancement of data capabilities across the University’s colleges, schools, and units (CSUs), working collaboratively with Data to Insights (D2I), Institutional Reporting, Research, and Information Systems (IRRIS), and other campus partners. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Career Success, this role will focus on creating strategic approaches to data collection, analysis, governance, and storytelling to support the university’s career success goals.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Insights
- Convene communities of practice around career success reporting and build partnerships to align data strategies focused on students’ career journeys.
- Lead research to analyze career education, experiential learning, and job market data and distill into reports and insights for CSUs.
- Collaborate with CSUs, Career Services Offices (CSOs), IRRIS, and D2I to establish data governance and consistency.
- Oversee a team delivering timely, high-quality insights to support decision-making.
Data Management & Operations
- Establish appropriate levels of governance and processes with CSUs and CSOs.
- Manage the central career data system, ensuring accessibility and consistency across colleges and schools.
- Improve data access, quality, and processes.
- Provide data sourcing assistance and consultation to enhance strategies for data collection and integration.
Reporting and Analytics
- Develop customized dashboards, including the executive dashboard, and standardized reports for campus-wide use.
- Design and implement sustainable analytics tools, market insights, and data models.
- Develop and manage dashboards, including the executive dashboard, to deliver actionable insights and data visualization.
- Respond to campus-wide data inquiries and executive reporting requests.
- Develop executive-level presentations and data storytelling to influence strategic decision-making.
- Stay informed on higher education career data trends to guide best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Five or more years of experience in data analysis, preferably within higher education or career services.
- Three or more years of experience leading and managing data analysis units/organizations.
- Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to generate actionable insights from complex data.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting data to various audiences.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

- Expertise in predictive analysis and forecasting.
Salary Range
$150,000 + depending on qualifications

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
