This temporary position will have a duration of six months, with a possibility of extension based upon funding.
Purpose
Reporting to Senior Information Technology Manager on the Advancement Data Operations team with the University Development Office, seeks a skilled Jira Expert & Scrum Master to lead the overhaul of our Jira system, enhance our Agile practices, and train team members in project management tools and methodologies. This role is crucial to optimizing operational efficiency and ensuring successful project delivery ahead of critical deadlines in 2025. This position will work closely with the Application Development and Salesforce teams to redesign Jira workflows, facilitate Agile ceremonies, and provide knowledge transfer to internal staff, enabling long-term sustainability of improvements.
Responsibilities
Jira System Overhaul
- Redesign Jira workflows, boards, dashboards, and reports to align with Agile best practices.
- Enhance the usability and functionality of Jira for all team members.
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to ensure adoption of system improvements.
Scrum Master Duties
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos.
- Guide teams in adhering to Agile principles and practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as a key point of contact for identifying and removing impediments to team progress.
Team Training and Documentation
- Train Business Analysts and Project Coordinators on Jira administration and Agile methodologies.
- Develop comprehensive documentation and processes for Jira and Scrum practices to ensure knowledge sustainability.
- Deliver recorded training sessions for future team reference.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Jira administrator and Scrum Master, preferably in software development or IT project environments.
- Advanced expertise in Jira, including workflow redesign, dashboard customization, and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Excellent facilitation and coaching skills with the ability to mentor teams.
- Experience delivering training and creating clear, comprehensive documentation.
- Certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with managing tools and methodologies in Salesforce-related projects.
- Experience supporting teams under tight deadlines with critical deliverables.
- 3-5 years of experience using JIRA to facilitate progress in both agile and kanban development styles
Salary Range
$96,000 annual + depending on qualifications (amount will be prorated by length of assignment)
