Purpose
The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an innovative and strategic associate director to join the central Career Success team to partner with Colleges, Schools, and Units (CSUs) to integrate a life design framework as part of students’ career success. This role supports a university-wide effort to expand on the university’s definition of student success – we want to help students be able to design lives for themselves that are fulfilling and impactful. The University’s goal is to, within five years, achieve 90% of graduates having a plan for their life and careers. The associate director will report to the director of life and career integration.
Responsibilities
- Implementation with Colleges and Schools: Consult with staff and faculty in the colleges and schools – including career services, student success, and advising units – to integrate life design into the student academic and co-curricular experience. Provide expertise, guidance, and tactical implementation when necessary to develop courses, educational modules, workshops, and online learning experiences that maximize impact. Partner with CSU instructors to find opportunities and solutions for life design implementation within existing and new courses.
- Strategic Engagement: Work closely with the director of life and career integration to develop and manage an institution-level life design strategy and to
ensure campus-wide continuity of the implementation framework. Identify and prioritize opportunities for radical collaboration within CSUs and across units. - Training and Facilitation Program: Lead the development and execution of a training program designed to educate UT faculty and staff about life and career integration and how to most effectively implement the framework with students at scale across the university. Build a calendar of training opportunities for specific constituents, such as staff and faculty.
- Implementation of Assessment Strategy: Develop and administer evaluation surveys to measure effectiveness of life and career integration programs. Manage data and provide regular summaries to director and other leaders. Integrate evaluation data into other reports, educating colleges and schools on the effectiveness of their efforts towards the university’s career success metrics.
- Supervise professional staff: Supervise the manager of training and facilitation and other positions as the team grows.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 4+ years of working in educational environments
- 2+ years of experience implementing projects in higher education settings
- Experience with Qualtrics, Project Management Software, and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will exceed the required qualifications and have significant experience, preferably at an Assistant Director level or the equivalent.
- Teaching experience in higher education
- Training and/or certifications in life design
Salary Range
$77,000 + depending on qualifications
