Purpose
This key position partners with departments such as Enterprise Business IT Solutions (eBITS), the Graduate School, Office of the Provost and Texas Global to manage the university’s student employment program. The Student Employment HR Consultant provides consultation to all College, Schools, and Units (CSUs) on student employment policies, HR best practices and work eligibility.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultation to CSU HR professionals on university policies related to work eligibility, student job classifications and employment benefits, performance management processes, workplace grievances, as well as compensation decisions and unit compensation structures, incorporating reviews of state and federal employment law.
- Serve as a Workday Business Owner for student employment. Recommend Workday system configuration changes and enhancements, establish work priorities, and develop Workday processing guidance for system users. Work collaboratively with Enterprise Business Information Technology Solutions team, the Workday Product Owner, and CSUs to meet the needs of the university’s student workforce. Provide written and verbal explanation on processes and changes to processes.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with central Human Resources teams, the Graduate School, Texas Global, Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, the Office of the Provost, HR Leadership Council members, and the Graduate Coordinator Network to ensure successful program administration.
- Oversee university-wide student employment initiatives and programs, including the Student Employee Education and Development (SEED) program, and the President's Student Employee of the Year awards program.
- Design and deliver trainings on student employment policies and performance management techniques to managers and CSU HR professionals. Facilitate workshops and forums for stakeholders on student employment topics.
- Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years’ experience in a combination of student employment, human resources, student services/student affairs or other relevant areas. Demonstrated competencies of effective communications, decision-making and critical thinking, problem solving, conflict management and service excellence are necessary to be effective in this position.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
More than three years of experience. M.A. in Higher Education, Human Resources or related field or SHRM-CP. Demonstrated experience navigating the university environment and working with a variety of university stakeholders.
Salary Range
$75,000
Working Conditions
- Work-Life balance of typical 40-hour work weeks.
- Work performed from the Austin TX office location a minimum of three days per week with option to work remotely two days per week (subject to change based on business need).
- Work around standard office conditions.
