Responsibilities
As a Fresh Produce QA Supervisor I, you'll apply strong leadership skills and knowledge of retail products and the quality assurance program to train and assist in managing a team of QA technicians. This position in Produce supervises inspections of product to ensure compliance with H-E-B specifications.What is the work?MEAT --Quality Assurance:- Reviews audit results and cutting tests information; prepares BDM and vendor communications- Allocates inspection resources based on risk analysis of inbound deliveries- Ensures standard operation procedures are executed and documentedTraining / Management:- Trains / monitors performance of Market QA inspection program / technicians- Assists in training Partners on quality assurance procedures and product specifications- Participates in the performance appraisal process for hourly techniciansPRODUCE --Quality Assurance:- Inspects storage areas and product to ensure compliance with H-E-B specifications on temperature, packaging, flavor, color, container, and shelf life- Inspects ripening processes- Monitors inbound specification database and training maintenance; monitors claims, rejections, and outbound processes, and BDM product reviews- Maintains inspection records; monitors trends- Designs / implements supply chain strategy to encourage proactive buying based on product / conditions- Tests / reviews shelf life conditions by supplier by item- Reviews Stores' merchandising impacts, shelf life, product consistency, and customer feedback vs. specifications- Monitors competitive item comparisons and rankings- Documents any testing or experimental processesWhat is your background?MEAT- Bachelor's degree in food science or related field, OR- 5+ years of experience in progressive positions of responsibility in quality assurance or food safety regulation- 3+ years of QA experience- Working knowledge of HACCP, Good manufacturing Practices (GMP), Thermal Processing, SSOP, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), FDA Food Code, Texas Retail Food Establishment Rules (TFER), Integrated Pest management (IPM), basic statistics, and auditing practicesPRODUCE- 5+ years of experience in progressive positions of responsibility in Produce QA- 3+ years of experience in QADo you have what it takes to be a fit as a Fresh Produce QA Supervisor I at H-E-B?- Strong verbal / written communication skills- Problem-solving, organization, and time management skills- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between projects / tasksCan you...- Function in a fast-paced warehouse environment- Travel by car / plane with overnight stays- Work extended hours in a cold environment- Sit or stand for extended periods- Occasionally lift 90 lbs or more11-2017
