We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to work on our Data Solutions Data Governance team as a Senior Data Engineer. The ideal candidate has experience with implementing data governance concepts, including data security, data stewardship, metadata management, data quality, data lifecycle, and compliance. The candidate must have strong technical skills for creating complex programs, deep knowledge of data modeling, transformation, storage, ETL/ELT pipeline orchestration, data warehousing, data quality, cloud platforms, version control, and a desire to communicate, collaborate, share, and continuously improve themselves and the team.
What You’ll do:
- Utilize your Data Governance experience to guide our data teams to improve data security, data lifecycle, data quality, and data management practices.
- Engineer solutions to harvest metadata, lineage, and logic from on premise and cloud systems for data governance tools (such as Informatica, Alation, or Collibra)
- Manage administrator functions within data governance tooling.
- Build data models, data pipelines, apply transformation, and create tables to support metadata, security, quality, or compliance reporting needs.
- Monitor data quality, ensuring data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it.
- Perform code reviews, write unit test cases, document design concepts, implementation plans, and maintain team documentation.
- Perform analysis required to troubleshoot data and metadata issues while driving resolution.
- Collaborate cross functionally with business and technical teams on projects and troubleshooting.
- Assist with creating, planning, and implementing strategic goals of the Data Governance team.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 5-7 years of experience as a Data Engineer (intermediate or senior).
- Expert skills in SQL for database design, querying and optimization.
- Advanced experience in Python for data manipulation.
- Strong experience with data governance and security best practices.
- Strong proficiency in data modeling and schema design.
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Ability to design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines specifically related to data governance.
- Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with data streaming technologies (e.g., Apache, Kafka).
- Understanding of DevOps practices for continuous integration and deployment.
- Experience with real-time data processing and analytics.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) for code management.
