This position works in-person. Will be required to occasionally work additional hours in early morning or evening, weekends, and/or holidays to complete time-sensitive projects or facilitate events and programs. Occasional travel may be required. Drives a university vehicle.
Purpose
The Director of Career Engagement reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and manages employer relations, along with career development and job placement programs for current students enrolled in the College of Pharmacy, with an emphasis on career services programs development, implementations, and assessment.
Responsibilities
Communication:
Serves as the main point of contact for College of Pharmacy student career services.
Works with existing database of employer contacts and with the Development & Alumni Relations office to expand the office’s employer relations with external stakeholders.
Develops advising and promotional materials aligned with college branding. Markets best practices to increase attendance and participation in career development programming. Works with the Director of Communications and Marketing to engage students on social media or other platforms related to student success.
Designs common central platform to receive internship and position openings, while also publicizing them openly with students.
Assessment:
Evaluates if program objectives are met and provides recommendations to Assistant Dean for continuous improvements annually.
Seeks out information, literature, and trends in higher education and student affairs to apply national best practices in the College of Pharmacy career services programs. Participates and presents our efforts and outcomes at career services, student affairs, and pharmacy education professional society conferences.
Analyzes data to assess the effectiveness of career development activities and implement continuous improvements in strategy to meet college goals. Presents annual reports on co-curricular outcomes each academic year.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Five (5) years of higher education experience
Experience in career services or career coaching
Experience in event planning and project management
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office platforms: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in counseling, higher education, student affairs, or human resources or Pharm.D. degree
Five (5+) years of experience in career services or career coaching
Experience with Handshake or other career management systems
Familiarity with NACE Career Readiness Competencies
Experience advising and working with Doctor of Pharmacy and graduate students
Salary Range:
$90,000+ depending on qualifications
