Purpose
The communications coordinator will develop content and coordinate marketing and communications efforts focused on lead generation and internal communications as assigned. They will write, collect, produce and edit content for various print and digital fundraising collateral including What Starts Here campaign materials, magazine and newsletter articles, donor stories, impact stories, video scripts and event materials. They will assist and support the Associate Director of Internal Communications with internal content creation and editing to further strategic goals and keep the Texas Development community informed. They will focus heavily on storytelling that inspires, acknowledges and promotes philanthropy at UT.
Responsibilities
Internal Communications
- Collaborate closely with Associate Director of Internal Communications on the organization's internal communications initiatives.
- Write and edit talking points, presentations, newsletters, email communications and content for Texas Development’s employee intranet.
- Assist with posting, distribution and tracking of internal communications projects.
- Collaborate with individual stakeholders to develop and provide guidance on internal communications content.
Development Marketing and Communications
- Contribute story ideas, interview subjects and develop content for all forms and channels of development communications.
- Create content for impact reports that thank and steward donors.
- Create content for lead generation marketing campaigns to identify prospective donors.
- Write video scripts.
- Assist in developing content for biannual Texas Leader magazine and bimonthly Changing the World series published in Alcalde magazine.
- Assist with Development event marketing materials and event coordination.
- Assist with university-wide story collection and cataloging and write new stories to support What Starts Here fundraising campaign.
- Write and post content as assigned for development digital properties, including giving.utexas.edu.
- Work with University Communications to secure placement of development stories on UT Austin-wide channels.
- Edit and proof development materials as assigned, ensuring that the best editorial standards are met.
- Ensure consistent use of campaign messaging and UT Austin branding.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with major coursework in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field. Five years related experience in development communications, writing/editing, marketing or general communications. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Proven abililty to prioritize, manage and organize multiple projects that consistently meet deadlines and budget. Proven ability to write clear, concise, accurate and compelling donor-centric content. Highly detail-oriented. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of AP Style. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
Seven years experience in development communications. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Eloqua email marketing software, video editing software and Asana project management tool.
Salary Range
$70,000+ depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
Occasional evening, holiday or weekend hours during peak periods and/or for events
Occasional travel may be required primarily for training or event support
