Purpose
Responsible for designing and preparing architectural and engineering construction documents while adhering to client requirements, code requirements and site adjustments.Coordinate with MEP, Site/Civil, and Structural Engineers, as well as Project Managers, Construction Planners, and other University stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Produce complete architectural/engineering schematic, design and construction documents for the area of expertise to ensure high quality, innovative, functional design and the adherence to codes and standards.
Resolve complex technical design issues by developing options keeping in mind client’s needs, total cost of ownership, building’s usage, code and standards, and environmental impact. Support UT standards and required reviews by the Technical Review Team and other authorized representatives.
Conduct site feasibility research and site visit investigations. Generate reports and recommendations based on findings.
Organize and maintain project documentation.
Coordinate with in-house technical and engineering staff and vendors for technical information and specifications.
Maintain licensure, including continuing education requirements.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Minimum four years experience as a designer or project manager to include experience preparing and editing technical document sets in the area of expertise. Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or licensed in another State with the ability to obtain reciprocity in Texas within 6 months of employment. Demonstrate an understanding of basis of design. Demonstrate an understanding of codes. Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once. Strong knowledge and skills in AutoCAD and Revit applications. Demonstrated experience working independently. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree or advanced degree in Architecture or Engineering. Seven or more years experience as a designer or project manager to include experience drafting or editing technical document sets in the area of expertise. Experience with BIM, Bluebeam, Sketchup and other 3D sketch software. LEED accreditation. Knowledge of specialized standards related to construction in the area of expertise. Experience in higher education design including, but not limited to, laboratories, classrooms, student spaces, housing, food service, athletics and recreation spaces. Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with external clients and co-workers.
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
Salary Range
$115,000 + depending on qualifications

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
