The Enterprise Geodata Manager / Enterprise Geodatabase Administrator is an experienced professional career position responsible for maintaining enterprise-wide GIS databases and geodatabases, coordinating the data schemas, ensuring industry and organizational data quality and metadata standards are met, and coordinating data integrations. The work requires a seasoned understanding of Geospatial data, Enterprise Geodatabases specifically and RDBMS generally, the ArcGIS Enterprise deployment architecture, and application of the principles and best practices used to design, implement, maintain, modify, optimize, and secure Geospatial data using ArcGIS and MSSQL. This role works alongside the Sr. Enterprise Geospatial System Administrator and Sr. Geospatial Data Automation Engineer in Digital Technology and the Manager of Geospatial Analytics & Insights in CIC.

What is your background?
- A bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems/Science/Technology, Geography, or a related field such as Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Intelligence, Statistics, or Analytics. Master’s degree a plus.
- 3+ years of demonstrated expertise in administering ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabases as part of an ArcGIS Enterprise multi-tiered system to include servers, portals, application infrastructure, and external data or systems integrations.
- Experience with REST services, web requests, JSON, XML, and APIs.
- Experience working with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP) and cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Analysts, IT Systems Security, Test Engineers)
What is the work envisioned for an Enterprise Geodata Manager / Enterprise Geodatabase Administrator?
- Administration of a multi-tier ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabases that may be deployed in on-premises and virtual environments.
- Serves as the senior technical lead on GIS data architecture, deployment strategies, and Geospatial database and data administration workflows.
- Plans and coordinates Enterprise Geodatabase software installations, upgrades, and patches for all environments.
- Designs, builds, installs, configures, and manages ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabases (MSSQL) to include user and data administration in accordance with industry best practices and company information security and data governance standards.
- Ensures accurate, current, and authoritative spatial datasets for cross-organizational GIS users by collaborating with upstream data stewards and various statistical and analytics teams.
- Collaborates with leadership from Geospatial and Digital Technology teams to contribute to the technical vision and roadmap in alignment with strategic business initiatives.
- Collaborates with Geospatial Data Development Engineers and Geospatial leadership to automate common data ETL, system administration, and monitoring using models, Python, or other tools.
- Develops and maintains workflows to monitor and analyze the ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabases to identify and resolve issues as well as optimize performance and user experience.
- Implements improvements to increase process efficiency and effectiveness through data designs that ensure consistency, security, maintainability, and flexibility.
- Innovates GIS data architecture to support incorporating advanced analytics, data science, and machine learning through collaboration with other teams such as Data Science, Planning & Analysis, etc.
- Mentors Geospatial and Digital Technology staff to promote technical excellence and support adoption of geospatial data standards and best practices.
Do you have what it takes to be an H-E-B Enterprise Geodata Manager / Enterprise Geodatabase Administrator?
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabase administration and spatial data management in a multi-tier, high-availability deployment. Experience with ArcGIS GeoEvent Server, ArcGIS Mission, and custom tools and applications are a plus.
- Experience managing databases/geodatabases in Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing data schemas/architecture that meet geographic data standards.
- One or more Technical Certifications: Esri Enterprise Geodata Management Professional, Esri Enterprise System Design Professional, Esri Enterprise Administration Professional, or GISP. Other IT and GIS certifications are a plus.
- Experience with data lakes (Databricks) is highly desired, and familiarity with noSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB, Hadoop (HBASE, Hive) or other) is a plus.
- Experience working with additional Esri software: ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Business Analyst, ArcGIS mobile apps, Insights for ArcGIS, and various geospatial APIs and SDKs.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python (ArcPy); familiarity with SAS, R, and JavaScript a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including technical writing skills for documents such a user guides, metadata, data standards, data flow/component/architecture diagrams or training materials.
