Purpose
The Director for Frontline Support Services (FSS) will lead the FSS team in building a leading development organization with the University Development Office (UDO). This position will manage a group of development professionals who will provide support to successfully facilitate organizational initiatives. The Director will create a collaborative culture supported by business practices that enable Texas Development to maintain a growing prospect pipeline to reach $1B in annual gift commitments.
Responsibilities
- In partnership with Endowments Services and Donor Relations leadership, work with the AVP to build a highly functional and successful Advancement Services operation, including promoting, monitoring and assessing cross functional team work, outcomes and impacts.
- Act as liaison between UDO leadership and the UDO FSS units; Facilitate the creation of best-in-class programs based on need and feedback, while serving as a source of information for all team members and colleagues across campus.
- Build a robust onboarding and training program for the FSS team. This may include creating or refining existing processes and procedures, document creation and updating, exploring training opportunities and programming, including the creation of a mentorship program within FSS.
- Manage and mentor two assistant director level workers, including learning UDO practices and procedures, providing professional development opportunities, delivering performance reviews and coaching.
- Support FSS HR related functions including onboarding, timekeeping, employee relations, performance management and leave management.
- Regularly work with Texas Development leadership across campus to ensure continued collaboration and cohesiveness between the College, Schools and Units (CSU).
- Assist in the creation and assessment of strategies to boost productivity and provide training in business processes related to the work performed by the FSS team to improve efficiency, cost and level of service.
- Hire, develop, and lead an engaged high-performing team and provide feedback to meet productivity goals. Ensure expectations are communicated clearly, understood and monitored to achieve and maintain appropriate partner satisfaction and staffing.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of three years experience leading or managing others in a customer service-related setting.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills. Ability to motivate others to achieve goals.
- High degree of emotional intelligence.
- Demonstrated ability to be nimble and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Highly effective communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal). Comfortable presenting information to groups.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively and work well under pressure.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Project management skills.
- Ability to work independently, and also collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels across the organization.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain integrity and professionalism.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and experience with CRMs or other database platforms.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- More than the required years of experience
- Experience working in a large-scale, complex academic research university.
- Experience working in a development-focused organization.
- Experience working with VIP, Raiser’s Edge or other similar CRM.
- Knowledge of UT Austin policies, procedures and systems.
Salary Range
$90,000 + depending on qualifications

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
