Purpose
The Senior Program Specialist will lead the development, implementation, and management of the UEM apprenticeship program.
Job Description
- Apprenticeship Program Management: Coordinate and oversee all aspects of apprenticeship program, ensuring compliance with the governing body. Evaluate program effectiveness, compiling data and feedback to recommend improvements and ensure the program alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Collaborate with UEM divisions to identify apprenticeship opportunities, skills gaps, and areas of training needs. Develop and maintain relationships with educational institutions, training partners, and industry associations to create apprenticeship opportunities.
- Apprenticeship Program Coordination: Support the recruitment and onboarding process for apprentices, including marketing the apprenticeship program, coordinating interviews, and guiding candidates through the application process. Serve as the primary point of contact for apprentices, mentors, and external training providers, ensuring effective communication and support.
- Documentation and Records Keeping: Track and maintain detailed records of apprenticeships, including progress reports, certifications, and milestones. Monitor apprentice performance, providing feedback and identifying areas for improvement to ensure success in the program.
- Apprenticeship Program Training: Collaborate with UEM units on the development of apprenticeship programs to promote a culture of career growth. Provide training coordination and support for apprenticeship programs, and conduct meetings. Coordinate external training vendors for onsite training sessions. Ensure engagement and consultation with key stakeholders continually to ensure the training aligns with the program guidelines. Organize training sessions, workshops, and other development activities for apprentices, ensuring learning outcomes are met.
- Apprenticeship Funding and Certification: Research governing bodies to certify the UEM apprenticeship program. Research funding opportunities and apply for grants to fund the UEM apprenticeship program.
- Technical Program Support: Support existing and new technical programs in the development of new initiatives that support UEM’s strategic priorities. Leverage technology and best practices to improve program efficiency, effectiveness, and stakeholder satisfaction. Coordinate meetings and provide note-taking and documentation support.
- Perform other related functions as assigned. Attend staff meetings, safety training or meetings. Adheres to Utilities and University policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, or Business Administration.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in apprenticeship programs, workforce development, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of apprenticeship systems, policies, and regulations.
- Experience working with diverse groups, including apprentices, mentors, and training providers.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with various stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze program data, prepare reports, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite; experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or apprenticeship management platforms is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (master's or higher) Education, Human Resources, or Business Administration.
- 5+ years of experience in apprenticeship programs, workforce development, or a related field.
- Experience in a role involving workforce development, career services, or training coordination.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship programs in utilities or engineering industry.
- Certification or training in project management, adult education, or workforce development.
- Familiarity with labor laws and apprenticeship regulations.
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
Salary Range
$65,000

Work Shift
40 hours a week, Monday - Friday 06:30 AM - 03:00 PM; This position provides for work-life balance with typically a 40-hours work week that includes flexible work arrangements. The current schedule requires the employee to work on the UT Austin campus 5 days per week
