Job Summary:
The Data Engineer / Analyst supports our data-driven decision-making by developing reports, scripting ETL processes, and building data models.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Designs and generates reports and dashboards to support business needs using Cognos.
- Develops, maintains, and optimizes ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
- Designs and implements efficient data models to support analytics, reporting, and business intelligence.
- Works with relational and non-relational databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and reliability.
- Works closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and engineers to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
- Ensures accuracy, consistency, and security of data while following best practices for data governance.
- Identifies and resolves performance bottlenecks in queries, scripts, and data workflows.
- Attends and participates in meetings and company-sponsored training programs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of machine learning fundamentals and data science tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Understanding of DevOps practices for data (CI/CD for data pipelines).
- Must have a current driver’s license and auto liability insurance.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in SQL for querying, data modeling, and optimization.
- Experience with ETL tools and scripting (e.g., Python, SQL, dbt, Apache Airflow).
- Strong knowledge of data visualization tools like Cognos, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data warehouses (IBM DW).
- Experience working with APIs and data integrations.
- Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Databricks).
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer with a moderate noise level.
- Standard office hours, with occasional overtime.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10-20 pounds at times.
