PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Windows System Administrator II maintains the integrity of the OSs environment. Assists in installing, configuring and maintaining operating system servers, including web, mail and application servers, in support of processing requirements. Provides extensive operations support, file restorations, backups, disk space management, and problem resolution for operating systems platforms. Provides new hardware specifications to customers based on application needs and anticipated growth, installs new servers and maintains the server infrastructure. A member of a 24/7/365 global department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in installing, configuring and maintaining operating system servers, including web, mail and application servers in support of processing requirements
- Provides extensive operations support, file restorations, backups, disk space management and problem resolution for operating systems platforms, researches, evaluates and recommends software and hardware products
- Supports Web access and electronic messaging services and maintains a secure systems environment for the enterprise
- Provides new hardware specifications to customers based on application needs and anticipated growth, installs new servers and maintains the server infrastructure
- May commonly be part of a project team and assists on projects, may be project leader on small or task specific projects
- Maintains tasks, projects and activities in the IT system of Record (S-NOW)
- Understands and follows LSCS standard operating procedures
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

- Possesses skills and knowledge related to network, operating systems
- Must have knowledge of learned routines, procedures, practices and more complex skills
- Ability to train in certain procedures or equipment may be required
- May require knowledge of the College's policies and procedures

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
- May regularly travel to different LSC locations
- May be fully reassigned to other LSC locations if necessary
- May need to work weekends and outside of core business hours if necessary
REQUIRED Qualifications:
- Associate's degree and at least 4 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Entry level certification in area of responsibility
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in Window OS, Windows Server OS, Linux, printing protocols and processes, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, Exchange and Active Directory
