The Hardware Engineer Intern role:
We are seeking a Hardware Engineering Intern to assist in the development and testing of hardware components for our drone systems. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about drone technology and hardware engineering to gain hands-on experience working with industry experts in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, prototyping, and testing of electrical and mechanical components for drones
- Assist in the flight testing of drones
- Support hardware integration and troubleshooting of drone systems
- Conduct hands-on testing and analysis to ensure performance, reliability, and quality of drone hardware
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve hardware systems
- Participate in research and development of new drone technologies and hardware improvements
- Document designs, test results, and development progress
The Hardware Engineering Intern will work alongside our experienced software team during Summer 2025. This role is a part time (29 or less hours/week) non-exempt, non-supervisory, and on-site role reporting to the Director of Hardware.
This position pays $28/hour.
Qualifications you bring:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Sophomore or junior status preferred
- Strong interest in drone technology and hardware engineering
- Basic knowledge of electrical circuits, mechanical systems, and/or embedded systems
- Strong problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a passion for learning
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- U.S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Bonus Qualifications
Beneficial Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with design and simulation software (e.g., CAD, MATLAB, Simulink, LTSpice, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with soldering, assembly, and testing of hardware
- RC Airplane design, building and flying experience
Physical and/or Mental Requirements
- Ability to sit and/or stand for periods of time.
- Ability to use a keyboard, mouse, and other equipment with or without accommodations.
- Ability to maintain awareness during business hours.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and good command of the English language.
